Job Title: Board Director and Chair of Equity & Inclusion Committee - Non-Profit Organization

Position Overview:

The Board Director and Chair of the Equity and Inclusion Committee plays a critical role in championing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the CPMHC. This dual role is responsible for guiding the organization’s efforts to create a more inclusive and equitable environment, both internally and in its mission-driven work. The Director will serve on the board and lead the Equity and Inclusion Committee, helping to shape the organization’s DEI strategies and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Committee Leadership: Lead and oversee the Equity and Inclusion Committee, which includes committee members, staff, and external DEI experts. Facilitate regular meetings, set the agenda, and ensure committee goals are met.

  • DEI Strategy: Develop, implement, and monitor strategies and policies to advance equity and inclusion within the organization, aligning with its mission and goals.

  • Education and Training: Promote awareness and understanding of DEI concepts among board members, staff, and volunteers through training, workshops, and resources.

  • Assessment and Reporting: Evaluate and report on the organization’s progress in achieving DEI goals, including regular assessments and metrics to track improvements.

  • Recruitment and Retention: Work with the committee to develop strategies for diverse and inclusive recruitment, onboarding, and retention of staff, board members, and volunteers.

  • Equitable Program and Service Delivery: Collaborate with program managers to ensure the equitable delivery of services, programs, and initiatives to the communities served.

  • Community Engagement: Build relationships with external DEI organizations and stakeholders, fostering partnerships and collaborations that support the organization’s mission.

  • Board Engagement: Engage with fellow board members to ensure they have a deep understanding of DEI principles and integrate them into the organization’s decision-making processes.

  • Advocacy and Outreach: Advocate for DEI principles in the organization’s external activities, promoting social justice and equity.


  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Understanding of DEI concepts and practices in the non-profit sector.

  • Previous board or committee experience, especially within a non-profit organization.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

  • Passion for the mission and values of the CPMHC.

  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and equitable organizational culture.

Time Commitment:

Board Directors and Committee Chairs typically commit to a 2 year term, with the option for re-election. This dual role requires an estimated time commitment of 5-10 hours per month, including committee meetings, board meetings, and associated tasks. Occasional participation in organizational events and activities may also be necessary.
