Job Title: Board Director - Member of the Sustainability and Fundraising Committee

Position Overview:

As a Board Director and member of the Sustainability and Fundraising Committee, you will play a critical role within the CPMHC. This position involves actively participating in the development and implementation of strategies to secure the financial resources necessary to support our mission and ensure long-term sustainability. You will work closely with other committee members to shape the future of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Committee Membership: Serve as a dedicated member of the Sustainability and Fundraising Committee, actively participating in committee meetings and contributing to committee goals and initiatives.

  • Fundraising Strategy: Collaborate with the committee to develop and oversee comprehensive fundraising strategies, including annual giving, major gifts, grant applications, and events.

  • Donor Cultivation: Assist in identifying, cultivating, and stewarding donors and supporters to enhance and maintain strong relationships with the organization.

  • Fundraising Events: Participate in the planning, execution, and promotion of fundraising events and campaigns, working to achieve fundraising targets.

  • Grant Research and Writing: Contribute to the identification of grant opportunities and review grant proposals to secure funding where appropriate.

  • Financial Sustainability: Engage in strategic discussions to ensure the organization’s long-term financial sustainability, whilst remaining true to the strategic plan, mission, and vision.

  • Budget Alignment: Collaborate with the Finance Committee to ensure that fundraising goals align with the organization’s budget and strategic priorities.

  • Financial Reporting: Review and provide input on financial reports and statements, and help communicate the impact of fundraising efforts to the board and Finance Committee.

  • Board Engagement: Work with fellow board members to ensure they are well-informed about fundraising efforts and the financial sustainability of the organization.

  • Community Engagement: If applicable, represent the organization at external events, meetings, and collaborations to promote its mission and secure financial support.


  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising, development, or related roles.

  • Passion for the mission and values of the CPMHC.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a committee and contribute to strategic discussions.

  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in fundraising and financial sustainability efforts.

  • Previous board or committee experience, especially within a non-profit organization

Time Commitment:

Board Directors typically serve on a 2 year term, with the option for re-election. The role requires an estimated time commitment of 8-10 hours per month, including committee meetings and related activities. Occasional participation in organizational events and external engagements may also be necessary.
